Stuwa rudders

roeren_smallStuwa Rudders

For many years Promac delivers her own rudders under the famous brand "STUWA.
Those perfectly maneuvering rudders are characterized by a sleek and sophisticated appearance, optimal design. This will make the boat very manageable without compromising the ships propulsion speed.

Stuwa rudders are built at one of the largest rudder producers in the Netherlands. In the large assembly hall with modern equipment rudders are built daily. The rudders are deposited on the inland shipping vessels, sea and fishing vessels.

Why choosing a Stuwa rudder?

The rudders are dimensioned for good steering performance and limited hydrodynamic resistance. with our well chosen balance ratio, the required rudder torque will be limited.

At increased rudder angles, the rudder will act as a thust deflecting scoop, creating increased side forces with limited residual ahead thrust for optimal low-speed manoeuvring.

The Promac Stuwa "fishtail rudder" will be placed directly behind the propellor of the vessel . The rudder differs in several respects from a conventional balanced rudder.

The rudder is equipped with wide arched top and bottom plates that hold the water, causing a higher thrust occurs at the helm.
The rudder plating on both sides of the rudder at the rear have a sleek spout, making the water a few degrees more deflected towards the rudder.

Two Stuwa "dynamic Rudders" Are placed together behind the propellor of a ship.
The dynamic rudders are a bit different than conventional balanced rudders:

-The rudders are fitted with wide arched top and bottom plates that hold the water so a higher thrust to the rudders is created.
-The rudders are made of curved plates and are asymmetrical composed.
-The inside of the rudders is shorter and flatter out to propellor water during sailing ahead to minimize disruption.

Flap rudder

The Stuwa flap rudder is a two-piece rudder, with the main rudder and flap connected by a hinge to the main rudder. The flap is controlled by mechanical transmissions , it gets twice the result of the main rudder. This forms the main rudder and flap a strongly curved aerofoil, which creates a lift effect.
